Have I really not posted here since last December? Almost a year ago! Well, it’s been a whirlwind of a year! Hoping to hang out here on the blog more often in 2015! : ) But before 2014 slips away completely…. I want to share these awesome beanies that my sister has made.
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was around 7 years old. She used to watch us during the day after school while my mom was at work (before she transitioned to stay at home with us). At the time, learning was slow and frustrating… but it became more fun after I started catching on.
I made lots of odd-shaped washcloths and “pot holders” and then I learned to make a granny square… and eventually my first “real” project – a blanket and pillow for my baby doll. I think my Mom probably still has it somewhere… it was pink and blue. And you know, I can still make a basic granny square today without looking at a pattern!
Isn’t it funny how things mean something completely different to you in retrospect? I’m sure I was not the most patient student, and I remember being “bored” by it a lot, but I’m sure glad my grandmother stuck with me! I’ve used the skill I learned for so many projects over the years… including some blankets which I promise to post about really soon! : )
Some of my sisters were also taught by our grandmother how to crochet… and my sister Rebekah has been busy making these hats! Please check out my Etsy shop for more details! They make great gifts for those hard-to-shop-for guys on your Christmas list!
